Does anyone know of a reliable way to backup the Windows side, preferably from OS X? Heck, I don't mind simply dd'ing the partition if that will work.

You should be able to use the Disk Utility to back it up.

Just backup the whole partition, and I assume then asr can restore it? I've had nothing but problems in the past trying to restore from within Disk Utility.

Not from OSX, but in the XP side I was able to boot using Ghost 10 recovery CD. Means that full recovery should be possible. I see all backups done to firewire drive and can browse the system and also the recovery points. Have not done an actual recovery or file restore yet though.

Is there any way to back up with diskutility so that I don't have a file equivilent to the size of my whole XP partition, only the part with information?
