Is there any way to get any other functions on the trackpad? Like scrowling? I don't have much time to look around on this forum, so if it has been posted before I apologize.

Thank You for your help.

Well I did have a topic with this question mais, il n'y a pas des answers yet...

Thanks for opening this thread as mine was being pushed back anyway... I'm almost positive there's something, but I haven't found anything yet on google. There used to be an app that enabled this sort of thing in OSX with the old iBooks.

Yeah I found something for OS X for iBooks and PowerBooks only. I was wondering if an ALPS touchpad driver would work? Like one for a Dell (bad word i know) or Toshiba (still bad but not as bad of a word).

OMG stop cussin! :P

http://www.ragingmenace.com/software/sidetrack/ That's the app for OSX... I'll post again if I find anything for XP. Their has to be some 3rd party app/driver for doing this...

Well at least we can get right-clicking out of the way for now...

Yeah I've had the mouse utility for a while now. Does any one know how to get that utility to launch at startup without displaying the dialog box? I already have it in my start up items in the start menu, and not seeing it start up would be sleek in my opinion.

If you have a MBP (or any mac really) get one of these:

Works great and small enough to use right on the hand rest of the MBP.

You have to add /s to the command line. Create a shortcut, right-click and select properties. In the Target box put a space and /s at the end. Hit apply.

Yes! Thank you, not that box doesn't bother me on start up.

Now... If only I could scroll using my TrackPad... Then XP on Mac would be perfect*

*perfect as in for windows... which isn't very perfect at all

Just an update... I tried the drivers for my old Toshiba Satellite Notebook and it was a no go.

Has there been any movement on this? Does anyone know who the OEM supplier is for the trackpad? I know it used to be Synaptics, but supposedly Apple switched.

Unfortunately the real problem seems to be that Windows doesn't even identify the trackpad as a trackpad, but a USB mouse. Has anyone tried addressing that problem first?

I can confirm that Synaptics drivers wouldn't work, at least not without some hacking

Am I the only idiot that can't figure out how to get the trackpad to accept a "tap" as a click while running XP on my MB? I'm not a huge fan of using the button itself. Can't find anything on it in the mouse settings pane....though that would be quite intuitive, now wouldn't it?

And yes....I am a new Windows XP user. No wonder I love OS X so much. Wish I never infected my MB with XP to begin with.

thanks for putting up with such a rookie question, but even XP users can't seem to help me on this one.

It's something that's built into a manufacturer's driver/utitlity. It seems likely that Apple will release something in the final version of Boot Camp with Leopard next January, but not before then. For now you're stuck with the button for clicking. Unless someone with the know-how decides they'd like to write a driver. I'm still too much of a novice at programming, or I'd be working on it myself.

It's strange that Apple would not find it necessary to include a full trackpad driver among the others. I really hope such a driver is included with Boot Camp in the future, or that someone finds/hacks one that works.

It's rumored that the full release of Boot Camp will be shipping with Leopard when it's released in August, so my money is on the full shebang being released then.

Leopard is not being released in August, merely showcased. I don't think it's due out until at least January.

D'oh, sorry about that. Wishful thinking I guess. The trackpad is pretty handicapped at this point.

Is there away to automatically disabling the trackpad once a mouse is plugged in (both Mac OS X & WinXP)?

In OS X they hide that option--right in the Keyboard and Mouse settings under System Prefs.

if you use Parallels desktop then all the mac mouse pad functionality works:
Tap - click
two finger tap = right click
two finger drag = scroll

so windows is reciving the input correctly via osx i just hope that 10.5 bootcamp has full functionality and proper suport for the 17" macbook.
