The procedure requires a pc with nero to make a valid/customized cd of Windows XP SP2.
Isn't there any chance to make that customized disk directly on a mac by using Toast ?
If not, can someone make a torrent (iso, dmg,... etc) of an already customized windows cd and put it online ?
My problem is, and for many others too I think, ... I don't have a PC  !?

Unfortunately it is likely illegal to distribute a torrent of a custom WinXP iso image for your mac - not to say that people wont do it. It would be great if someone figured out how to build the iso with existing mac software, but in the meantime, do you have a friend with a PC?

Hi,
I've used an oem version to make a windows xp disc. When I install on my mac I can see contents on disc, however when i reboot my mac i don't get the option to choose boot from cd disc. I've retried several times to execute instructions in terminal but not working. Can someone please tell me how to copy xom.efi to coreservices.
thanks.

On the IRC channel last night (and this morning in fact) 'thesman' has suggested installing Fink (a set of ported Unix tools I think) and using 'mkisofs' to create the ISO.
I'm not sure if anyone has been successful with a disk done this way and so have been reluctant to go through the rigmarole of installing Xcode and the SDK in order to compile the preliminary Intel build of Fink and then wrestle with Terminal (it still scares me!) in order to try it out.
If someone can confirm they've done it then I'll give it a go (although a handy-dandy fools guide of how to go from downloading Fink through to finished disk would be hugely appreciated if anyone's feeling generous).

My question is this. The instructions say to use Nero to *burn* a cd. My problem is that I don't have a burner on my PC, but I do on my mac. So, can you simply use Nero to build the CD image on the PC, and then instead of burning it to physical media, make an ISO of it and then take that ISO to a mac and burn it to cd there.
Will this work, or is there something that Nero will do to the disk as part of the burn procedure that isn't part of the ISO file.

While I can't say 100% for sure since I haven't tried it, nothing in the procedure appears to be dependent on Nero actually burning. It looks like just a good 'ole el torrito boot cd, so should be burnable as an ISO.

As Peter Griffin would say "That's fricking sweet!"
I'm currently getting a slipstreamed XP SP2 cd together, which I'll copy over to the mac and burn there. I'll then see if the PC plays with that, then I'll try the dual boot game. I've got a spare partition, so all I need to do is boot from the OS X install DVD, format the spare as MS-DOS, then backup anything I want, cross my fingers, say a few secret incantations I picked up from the pit, and roll them twenties! :D

Can us Virtual PC (on a PowerPC machine) owners us VPC to make the install disc?

If you do the same as above (make the ISO in Windows, and burn with Mac OS X), then I see no reason why not. I do not think VPC can do a burn on its own, though.
