AIM Triton and Skype

I downloaded and installed these two apps...download and install went fine but then I tried to run either of them the screen flashed blue with some white characters (not long enough for me to make it out) then restarted the cpu. when i booted back in to windows (and windows had gone through disk check) the apps and all their associated files were gone. anyone had similiar experiences or insight with messaging/other apps?

I've used Skype with no problem, but I havent tried AIM Triton. Trillian was causing my computer to BSOD (blue screen of death) - sounds like what is happening to you. I think it has to do with the sound driver mskssrv.sys - does your BSOD look like this (http://www.dealcatcher.com/forums/m_402248/tm.htm)? You can try to use the alternative sound drivers listed on the wiki (http://wiki.onmac.net/index.php/Users/Drivers), however this will stop your microphone from working.
