Smile ATI Drivers! Someone willing to test?

I have the drivers. I need to send them to someone to test and to see if I qualify for the money. I don't want to put them on my server because I will get over in bandwidth. EMAIL ME ASAP: fishera@gmail.com.

THANKS.

A lot of people are saying that Apple's ATI driver is not working in XOM.
So I do not think that the contest is over

Not to insult the great effort put on here by narf and blanka, but with Bootcamp, there is no need for any further XOM development, including ATI drivers. Bootcamp XP runs more stable, and all the drivers just work, with no tricks. And honestly, in the time you waste fooling with getting stuff to work in XOM, you could have reinstalled OSX and did the bootcamp install.

I think the driver contest is dead.

As it is, the contest shouldn't be about drivers, because the fact that the Radeon doesn't work under xom actually has little to do with the drivers. The deal is VGA BIOS emulation.

Well, the thing here is that XOM uses a disk-based EFI bootloader to patch in a CSM. Apple leverages a firmware update which adds in that CSM, which includes the VGA emulation.

The reason why I think XOM rejects the Radeon drivers from Apple is that they conflict with the VGA emulation that XOM uses. With Apple's solution, MS' VGA bits just work, and so the drivers sit on the video device like they normally would.

XOM is effectively obsolete just from the firmware update, let alone BootCamp. One can get XP installed using just the firmware update and drivers pieced together from various sources, sans BootCamp and sans XOM. I would actually say that right now... any contests for Windows on Mac is entirely related to driver support.

I agree with you in every aspect. XOM was the first attemp and we've been excited for that, but the solution is here, is stable, is free(?), all drivers work. so I think that this forum should be used for real solutions.

I appreciate so much the efforts of the programmers to find a XP solution, but this game is over!
